Guava Milk Shake

Guava Milk Shake

4 medium ripe guavas
2 cups milk
1 tbsp granulated sugar, or to taste

Cut guavas in half; scoop flesh into a blender, being careful to remove the seeds
Pour the milk & sugar into the blender & puree until smooth
Test the shake for sweetness & add more sugar if necessary, pureeing again for a few seconds
Pour the shake into glasses & serve at once

Makes 4 (8 oz) servings

Corn Tortilla Chips

Corn Tortilla Chips

Vegetable oil (for deep-frying)
12 thin corn tortillas
Salt or garlic salt, to taste

Cover tortillas with a towel & let them dry out for at least an hour before frying

Pour enough oil into a heavy skillet to measure at least 1 inch in depth
Heat to 375 deg F

While the oil warms, cut each tortilla into 4 or 6 wedges
Fry 6 to 8 tortilla wedges at a time for just a few seconds
The chips should turn crisp, but not brown
Drain the chips & repeat with the remaining tortillas
Sprinkle with salt if you wish

Serve warm with salsa & guacamole

Salsa Cruda Recipe

Salsa Cruda

1 medium tomato
4 tablespoons finely chopped white onion
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cori&er
3 Serrano chiles, with seeds, finely chopped
1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1/3 cup cold water*

Chop the unskinned tomato & mix with the remaining ingredients

* You may substitute fresh lime juice, if desired
