Strawberries With Anise
Strawberries with Anise (Fresas con Anis)
1 lb fresh strawberries
1/4 cup anise-flavored liqueur
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
Sprinkle the hulled berries with liqueur & sugar & leave for about 30 min
Serve chilled or at room temp
Maraschino Ice Cream
Maraschino Ice Cream
1 can evaporated milk, chilled
2 egg whites, beaten
1 (4 oz) jar maraschino cherries
Blend milk & cherries & their liquid in a blender, only for a moment or two; cherries should not be too well blended
Thoroughly whip egg whites
Fold in cherry mixture
Freeze to desired consistency
If you like a stronger flavor, add from 1/2 to 1 tsp almond extract
Serves 6
Corn Fritters
Corn Fritters
1 lb yellow cornmeal
2 cups powdered milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsps cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsps butter
2 eggs
Mix all ingredients
Fry in hot vegetable oil, dropping mixture by Tbsp into the oil
Makes about 30
